How SwipeLeft handles photos and local app data

SwipeLeft is a photo-library cleanup tool that works offline. It has no user accounts and no advertising. Photos and videos never leave your device. The app sends a small amount of anonymous usage data — when the app is opened, how long a session lasted, and how many photos were deleted — so the developer can tell whether the app is being used. Nothing from your photo library is included.
With your permission, SwipeLeft uses Apple’s PhotoKit framework to display photos and videos, read media metadata needed for sorting and grouping, update Favorites, and submit the items you choose for deletion. iCloud media may be downloaded by Apple’s Photos service so it can be displayed in the app; it is not uploaded to or received by the SwipeLeft developer. Deletions and Favorites changes are performed by the system Photos library and require system authorization.
SwipeLeft stores app-functionality data on your device: Photos library item identifiers, items you marked to keep, pending session state, cleanup counts and estimated sizes, source and month history, and whether instructional hints have been shown. This data stays on your device and is not transmitted. A randomly generated device identifier is also stored in the device Keychain and is sent with the usage data described above; it is not derived from your device hardware, Apple ID, or any personal information.
SwipeLeft collects three anonymous events: the app being opened, the length of each session in seconds, and the number of photos deleted in a cleanup. Each is sent with the app version and a randomly generated device identifier used only to count distinct devices; your approximate country is derived by the server from the network connection, with no precise location stored. Nothing else is reported — not which screens you view, not which way you swipe, not any photo, video, filename, or photo metadata. This data is not linked to your identity and is not used to track you across other apps or websites. The developer does not use advertising SDKs or third-party analytics providers; the receiving server is operated by the developer.
SwipeLeft does not sell or rent your data. Your photos, videos, photo-library identifiers, and local review state are never transmitted to the developer or third parties. Anonymous usage statistics are sent only to the developer's own server, which runs on Cloudflare as the developer's infrastructure provider. The app relies on Apple system frameworks, including Photos and StoreKit, which operate under Apple's terms and privacy practices.
Local app-functionality data remains on your device until you clear the relevant review state or uninstall SwipeLeft. Uninstalling the app removes its local database and preferences. Anonymous usage statistics are retained on the developer's server in aggregate form for up to 90 days of per-event detail, with daily totals kept longer. Photos and videos are controlled by the system Photos library; items you approve for deletion are moved according to Photos behavior and may remain in Recently Deleted until removed there or automatically expired.
You can revoke or change Photos access at any time in iOS Settings > Privacy & Security > Photos > SwipeLeft. You can revisit items marked to keep from SwipeLeft Settings. You can cancel the system deletion confirmation before deletion occurs. Because usage statistics are anonymous and not linked to an account, the developer cannot identify which records belong to you and therefore cannot retrieve or delete individual records on request; uninstalling the app stops any further data being sent and deletes its locally stored app data.
SwipeLeft does not knowingly collect personal data from children or from any other users.
App data stays within the app’s iOS sandbox and is protected by iOS security controls. No method of storage is completely risk-free, so keep your device and operating system secure and up to date.
If SwipeLeft’s data practices change, this policy and the App Store privacy disclosures will be updated. Material changes will be reflected by a new effective date.
